POSITION TITLE: Physical Therapist Assistant SUPERVISOR TITLE: Physical Therapist PERSONNEL SUPERVISED: None
POSITION SUMMARY
The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) will ensure the quality and safe delivery of a physical therapy program as ordered by the patient’s physician.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a graduate of a physical therapy assistant program that is accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association. Must be certified by the National Certification Examination of the APTA and licensed with the State Board of Physical therapy Examiners.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of one year in acute care setting required.
LANGUAGE QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to communicate in written and oral format in the English language in a manner understandable to most people.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods during the workday. Must be able to lift, push, pull moderate to heavy loads. Must be able to balance, operate patient equipment and use a writing utensil legibly.
TASK MANAGEMENT
Must be capable of handling and prioritizing multiple job duties of critical importance simultaneously occasionally. This may be a moderately stressful position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The majority of these duties are performed in the patient’s home; therefore, the work environment is variable.
EXPOSURE RISK CATEGORY
Category 2 – may anticipate occasional exposure to blood/body fluids during the course of this job.
MUST RELATE WELL TO ADULT AND GERIATRIC PATIENTS.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Current state driver’s license, auto liability, professional licensure/certification, TB, CPR. Must be able to report to work punctually.
